Our Thann Wall Trial

As a way of investigating the long-term impact of our CristalACTiVTM PC-S7 solution in a real world situation, we devised a trial near our facility in Thann, France.

The trial, which has been underway since March 2012, was designed to capture the aesthetic impact of the product over time.

It is a relatively straightforward experiment and test case, but one that very clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of photocatalytic technology.

What We Did

Outside of our manufacturing plant in Thann, we have a previously constructed concrete wall that separates a manufacturing environment from the surrounding community. This concrete wall accumulates dust and dirt from the heavily trafficked road that runs alongside it.

The wall is a perfect substrate for this solution as it is located in close proximity to key pollutant sources both from automotive and environmental emissions.

We cleaned the wall with high pressure water and coated it with our CristalACTiVTM PC-S7 solution – a clear, water-based surface treatment containing ultrafine TiO2 particles that can be applied to the surface in much the same way as paint.

We check in periodically with visual inspections to assess performance and log results via photography.

Conclusions

We see the Thann wall trial as a very positive test case for this solution – the testing has been underway for nearly four years and the application continues to perform well.

Our trial data clearly shows that the CristalACTiVTM PC-S7 technology positively impacts the aesthetics of the substrate wall to which it has been applied (as is clear from the images shown) with the test sections appearing much cleaner and whiter than those that were not treated.
